Why other diets don't work

Summer is coming. It may not seem like it, with all the snow we’ve had this May, but it is. And with every summer comes the increased pressure to lose those extra pounds, and the search for the diet that will help you do it. I know what you’re thinking - There are so many diets out there. Every single one proclaims to be the one that works. They all try to tell you something different about food and your body. And, if you’re like me, you’ve probably been disappointed with more than a few. So why would Ideal Protein be any different? Why, when all other diets have failed, would this one work? I want to answer this question first by explaining why so many diets have failed you in the past:
1. Misunderstanding how our bodies work
There are many diets out there that show a fundamental misunderstanding of how our bodies process food, nutrients and calories. Losing weight shouldn’t be your only goal, if that were the case these diets would probably be fine short term. However, nutrition and long-term success needs to factor in to your weight loss journey. You don’t want to damage your body in the process of losing weight. Many fad diets or self managed diets, whether intentional or mismanaged can result in nutrient deficiencies.
You’re probably familiar with the term “ketosis” made popular recently by the “Keto-Diet,” but did you know that all diets have some level of ketosis? You can’t lose weight without it. Low levels of ketosis, as in diets with low calories but significant numbers of carbs, result in slow weight loss, while high levels of ketosis can be dangerous and lead to ketoacidosis. At Ideal Protein we manage the level of ketosis so that it remains effective and safe.
2. Fruits and Veggies
We’ve all seen the old adage “5 servings of fruits and veggies per day.” I spent years dieting where every snack and every meal included fruit. What I didn’t understand was that fruit was just sugar, which turns to fat in our bodies. I also learned that not all veggies are created equal. Some vegetables you can eat all day long, you can’t have too many leafy greens, but others, like pease and corn, are high in sugar and carbs. A lot of diets tell us we can’t go wrong with fruits and veggies, but that just isn’t true. Especially when it comes to fruit. Our bodies are not designed to process sugary foods, even the natural ones.
3. Education
The biggest problem with many diets is an over-all lack of education. There are many diets that work on a reward system, rather than just educating their dieters on the right food or teaching them how to read a nutrition label correctly. Every body is different, there is no one size fits all, and that’s why teaching people about their bodies is the most important.
These are some of the biggest reasons why the other diets fail. Ideal protein works because we educate, we understand how your body works, and we have trained diet coaches. I’m not trying to toot my own horn, but when I found Ideal Protein, my diet coach helped me lose weight while managing my nutrition, and taught me all about how food effects my body. I was able to uncover so many dieting misconceptions that had lead me to failure over and over again in the past.
